Individual Fencing Lessons
Due to the covid 19 virus epidemic, all fencing lessons are suspended from 28th March until further notice. When it is possible to restart training a new program will be posted.
The most effective way of developing the skills and requirements of fencing is through individual lessons with a coach. In order to provide for this, I offer the opportunity for fencers to receive individual lessons and train on Saturdays and Sundays at the Park Centre,Duke Street, Sheffield S2 5QP. This is directly behind the Duke Street library and is part of the same building which has a very tall brick chimney which can be seen from a distance.
Individual lessons will be available on the dates listed below. Those wishing to book lessons should let me know their preferred dates and times by email, phone or at club sessions. If other dates are required, this can possibly be arranged. The costs of lessons are – £20 for ½ hour, £40 for 1 hour. To see what lessons have been booked, go to Fencing Lessons at Park Centre – Oct 2019 to July 2020 . Dates for lessons from October 2019 till July 2020 are :-
October – 5th, 12th, 13th, 26th.
November – 2nd, 16th, 30th.
December – 7th, 14th.
January – 11th, 18th, 25th, 26th.

June – 13th, 20th, 27th, 28th.
July – 4th, 5th, 11th, 18th, 19th, 25th.
The venue is also available for those who wish to fence and electric equipment can be provided for this. If you wish to fence, you should let me know in order that electric equipment can be brought. Those who are coming for lessons should arrive with sufficient time to warm up and prepare. Also, if anyone fails to turn up for a lesson or cancels at short notice, they are expected to pay for the lesson. Many fencers who have received regular lessons from Adam Blight have achieved National and International success and these lessons have been essential to achieving this.

Here are a selection of individual lessons with myself.
1 – A short fencing lesson with a variety of exercises with Husayn Rosowsky. This and the other lessons with Husayn were filmed in September 2011, shortly after Husayn had returned from fencing in the World Student Games in China where he came 6th eventually losing 15-7 to Lei, who was world number one at the time. I started coaching Husayn when he was 7 he is now in London studying maths at Greenwich University and training with the Olympic Pathway Program. I must admit that there were moments when Husayn and myself were having a bit of fun with the exercises.
2 – In this lesson with Husayn Roswsky, the actions begin with an octave parry and the phrase is extended with different unannounced actions.
3 – This is a ‘choice of action’ routine – Husayn chooses between 1) sixte disengage. 2) sixte one-two 3)sixte disengage followed by a second intention counter-riposte. This routine was originally shown to me by my coaching colleague Phil Myers. The combination of a simple, a compound and a second intention action makes for a good exercise which develops a fencers technical and tactical skills.
4 – In this exercise a continuity hitting sequence is practiced.
5 – A short epee lesson with Joe Littler showing a range of exercises. Joe has fenced for Britain in the Cadet (Under 17) squad, including in the European Cadet Championships.
6 – In this exercise, joe is instructed to hit the hand as the response to every action, the actions are unanounced and varied.
7 – In this routine, all offensive and defensive actions involve circles.
Hi Adam,
I have booked my lessons on line, so hope the system works,
HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hi Suzannah
You may have attempted to edit the program on the website, which you can’t actually do, I have to log in to do that. If you email me the dates you want then I can add them to the program.
Happy New Year
Adam
